Supply and commissioning of the VCS 3020, Release 8 voice communication system, and integration-related services into the operational environment

The project “Supply and commissioning of the VCS 3020, Release 8 voice communication system and integration-related services into the operational environment” aims to create conditions for the reconstruction of the Technical room in the Sofia Air Traffic Control Center (Sofia ATCC) and to fulfill Task COM11 – Implementation of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in ATM from the document Local Single Sky Implementation Monitoring (LSSIP) of the Republic of Bulgaria.
BULATSA plans to reconstruct the existing technical room in the Sofia ATCC. For this purpose, during the modernization activities, it is necessary to uninstall, relocate, and install the technical equipment (including the voice communication systems – VCS) currently installed in the room on other premises. There is an operational requirement that this should be accomplished without reducing the level of service availability, while at the same time, the surrounding environment of air traffic controllers should remain unchanged. To meet these requirements, BULATSA plans to deliver and implement a VCS with similar characteristics to the existing Frequentis VCS3020, Release 8. This will allow for the availability of at least two VCS systems – a primary system and a backup system – during the modernization of the technical room.
The implementation of the new voice communication system, Frequentis VCS3020, Release 8, will enable a full migration to VoIP communication with the VHF radio communication equipment for air-ground communication.
