Project description:
Within Project PJ.18 W2 4D Skyways, in SESAR-IR-VLD-WAVE2-09-2019, will be integrated all improvements in Trajectory prediction and the definition, verification and validation of the Conflict Detection and Resolution tools.
Thus, the project shall support the trajectory planning process, facilitate the work of Air Traffic Controllers (ATCOs) and thereby increase the air traffic management capacity.
In the work on defining and validating PJ18-W2 project solutions will be used prototypes and expertise from various European Air Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs), technology companies in the field of ATM and for ground handling services, science centers and Eurocontrol.
Objectives:
- Upgrading the Trajectory Management (TM) studies to enable the introduction of SESAR solutions for Trajectory Based Operations (TBO).
- Preparing the implementation of enhanced tools for ground trajectory forecasting and for separation monitoring and control, through the use of aircraft data, more accurate metadata, improved algorithms and machine/automated training techniques.
- In addition, the synchronization of the trajectory information between the airplane and the ground units should be improved, and the transmission of complex trajectory change clearances through CPDLC (controller–pilot data link communications) should be provided.
- Facilitating the ground-to-ground and air-to-ground communications of the trajectory management information between different European stakeholders, by consolidating different solutions and defining a unified trajectory management service, thereby increasing the ATM cost effectiveness.
