BULATSA Director General Signs Key SDIP Declaration on Future Air Traffic Management Modernisation

Georgi Peev, Director General of BULATSA, has signed a Declaration of SDIP Members on Renewing the Joint Commitment to modernize ATM Beyond 2027, presented today at the Annual Conference of Chief Executive Officers of SDIP member organisations in Brussels.
The establishment of the SESAR Deployment and Infrastructure Partnership (SDIP) Consortium represents a commitment to preserve and maintain the crucial role of the SESAR programme in addressing the technological and functional challenges in the aviation industry.
The document highlights the effectiveness of the partnership between airlines, airports, Eurocontrol, and ANSPs, as well as the tangible results of their joint efforts, such as:
- The creation of an unparalleled centre of expertise for the air traffic management industry, with added value that is recognized and trusted by operational stakeholders and institutions;
- The introduction of a Consultation Mechanism that fosters dialogue;
- Strengthening the exchange of best practices, enabling the upgrades of current systems, their adaptation to new environment and innovation;
- Supporting stakeholders in their efforts to implement urgently needed technologies and systems to improve the efficiency and competitiveness of European aviation.
The Consortium supports the operational use of technologies in a way that has already enabled the industry savings for almost € 17 bln, a figure set to double by 2035.
The declaration also recalls the critical role of EU support in ATM modernization through a portfolio of over 350 projects involving more than 100 stakeholders from across the EU.
In the interest of European citizens and aviation, it reaffirms the need to turn the collective vision into reality through solutions based on the current SESAR Deployment and Infrastructure Partnership model.
The Consortium is ready to join forces with European institutions, as the partnership is essential to ensuring effective, coordinated, and fruitful use of the EU’s shared capacity in support of ATM modernization.
