100 years of Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport

Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport is celebrating its 100th anniversary, progressing from playing an important role as a military center, a key transport and trade hub to a developed center for training civil pilots. With passengers carried reaching 50,000 and training flights – up to 16,000 operations per year, the airport has deserved its status as one of the five international airports in Bulgaria.
BULATSA air traffic controllers also play an extremely important role in the safety and efficiency of flights at Gorna Oryahovitsa Airport. They bear the great responsibility, ensuring coordination, safety and continuous control of air traffic.
Bulgarian Air Traffic Services Authority (BULATSA) is proud to celebrate this anniversary and reaffirms its commitment to the safety and efficiency of air traffic in the region.
The anniversary year is an occasion for pride and gratitude to all who have contributed to the development of the airport – pilots, aviation engineers, ground personnel and institutions. On this occasion, a number of events will be organized – exhibitions, air demonstrations and meetings with veterans of Bulgarian aviation.
